MINSK: The Embassy of Pakistan in Minsk took part in the celebrated 30th International Fair “ProdExpo 2024,” presenting a vibrant display of Pakistani culinary heritage under the banner Flavours of Pakistan. The event, which drew over 150 guests, provided a unique platform for showcasing Pakistan’s rich culinary diversity and reinforcing cross-cultural ties. Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan, in his address, highlighted the concept of food diplomacy, emphasizing that culinary traditions hold the power to forge connections between nations. “Food,” he noted, “serves as a bridge between cultures, telling the stories of diverse societies and creating bonds beyond borders.”
The event featured a series of immersive activities designed to introduce attendees to Pakistan’s food culture. A documentary provided a window into the history, variety, and distinct cooking methods that characterize Pakistani cuisine, while an interactive master class invited guests to learn the art of making Gulab Jamun, a beloved traditional sweet, under the guidance of an expert chef. A highlight of the event was a presentation exploring the ingredients, spices, and techniques behind popular dishes such as Chicken Biryani, Samosa, Carrot Halwa, Gulab Jamun, and Jalebi.
These dishes, central to Pakistan’s culinary heritage, offered attendees an authentic taste of Pakistan’s gastronomic legacy. The cultural program was enhanced by a special performance from local Belarusian artists, fostering deeper cultural exchange. Singer Tatiana Kremis delighted the audience with an Urdu song, capturing the soul of Pakistani music, while dancer Alina Khan showcased a traditional Pakistani dance, adding an expressive and dynamic touch to the occasion.
