SUKKUR: US Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Natalie A. Baker visited Sindh Province from January 25 to 31, meeting political leaders, business executives, and community representatives to advance US-Pakistan priorities in economic growth, technology, and regional stability.
During her visit, US CDA Baker highlighted the US Mission’s ongoing commitment to bilateral trade and innovation. She toured major manufacturing sites, including the Continental Biscuits facility in Sukkur, a joint venture with US-based Mondelez International.
“Nothing captures the spirit of the US-Pakistan economic partnership quite like a shared success story where together we create jobs, drive innovation, and build mutual prosperity,” she said. Baker emphasized that American companies and technologies help local industries improve efficiency, strengthen supply chains, and modernize operations.
In Mirpurkhas, CDA Baker visited a sugar mill and an ethanol, CO₂, and paper plant, noting that modern technology supports exports to the United States and links Pakistan to international supply chains.
“This successful, innovative operation shows how modern industry supports the growing US-Pakistan economic relationship: reducing waste, adding value, and connecting Pakistani production to global markets,” she said.
CDA Baker also paid respects at the Bhutto family mausoleum in Larkana, underlining its cultural and historical significance. He met Hindu community leaders to discuss interfaith harmony and the protection of civil liberties for all citizens. Peter McSharry, Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the US Consulate General in Karachi, accompanied the delegation.
