RAWALPINDI: Azmat Ara, a Pakistani-born British national, was tragically murdered near Defence Chowk within the jurisdiction of Morgah police station. Ara had recently reclaimed her property, which had been illegally occupied by individuals connected to her extended family.
The incident occurred on Saturday when Azmat Ara was shot and killed while driving her car. The suspects, identified as Rahim Khan, his brother Ibrahim Khan, and his son Kamal Ahmed, allegedly approached Ara on a motorcycle. Kamal Ahmed, seated at the back of the motorcycle, reportedly fired the fatal shot.
Azmat Ara’s son, Waseem Hussain, has filed a complaint with the police, detailing the background of the dispute. Hussain revealed that his parents were British nationals who had purchased a house in a private society in 2018. The property was unlawfully taken over in 2020 by Rahim Khan, Ibrahim Khan, and Kamal Ahmed. This led to significant legal and familial discord. In 2021, after divorcing his wife Rahim Khan’s daughter, Hussain supported his mother’s legal battle to reclaim her property. The court ruled in Ara’s favor, and the bailiff removed the illegal occupants, returning the house to her.
The ongoing conflict, culminating in Ara’s murder, highlights the severe consequences of property disputes. The police have registered a murder case based on Hussain’s complaint and have launched a manhunt for the suspects. The deceased’s car has been seized, and CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to assist in the investigation. The body of Azmat Ara has been handed over to her family following a post-mortem examination. The police continue to gather evidence and conduct raids to locate and apprehend the suspects responsible for this heinous crime.
