RIYADH: Pakistani defence manufacturers drew significant international attention as the Global Defense Exhibition opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, showcasing military technology from around the world.
The event brought together around 900 companies from 80 countries, including a strong contingent from Pakistan, where local defence organizations displayed a range of equipment and systems. Exhibitors included Global Industrial & Defense Solutions, Heavy Industries Taxila, Pakistan Ordnance Factories, and the National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation.
Among the displays was the Fateh-2 missile, alongside other missile systems credited by officials with strengthening Pakistan’s defensive capabilities during recent exercises, including Maarka-e-Haq Bunyaan-e-Marsous. Pakistani drone technology and a variety of other defence platforms were also presented, highlighting the country’s growing expertise in military manufacturing.
Asad Kamal, chief executive of Global Industrial & Defense Solutions, described the exhibition as a key platform for presenting Pakistan’s defence industry to Middle Eastern and global markets. He said interest in Pakistani defence equipment had surged in recent months, reflecting the country’s expanding capabilities and regional relevance.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry visited the exhibition alongside Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq, inspecting the stalls and interacting with exhibitors. Speaking during the visit, Talal Chaudhry highlighted that defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had strengthened bilateral relations, adding that such events allowed manufacturers to showcase technological capabilities more effectively.
