LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the Pakistan Super League opening ceremony has been cancelled, though the tournament will proceed as scheduled.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi said the decision was taken to control costs and manage the situation effectively. He added that PSL matches would be held only in Karachi and Lahore, and that the league would begin on March 26 as planned.
Naqvi said the PSL is an international brand with foreign players participating, and that the event must go ahead despite current circumstances. He confirmed that matches would be played without spectators, and that ticket refunds would be provided to fans.
He further said a revised schedule would be issued with minimal team movement, and apologized to fans for the inconvenience, expressing hope that regional conditions would soon return to normal.
