DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) held a high-level operational meeting at its Dera Circle office this week, with the General Manager (Operations), Muhammad Zubair Kundi, presiding over discussions on key priorities for improving service delivery and tackling longstanding challenges in the electricity sector.
The meeting brought together senior officials, including Superintending Engineer (SE) PESCO Dera Circle Hizbullah Khan Mehsud, SE Bannu Circle Saeed ur Rehman Khan, and other departmental heads, along with divisional and sub-divisional officers.
The session focused on multiple pressing issues, notably the recovery of outstanding PESCO arrears, the elimination of illegal electricity connections—commonly referred to as the “kunda mafia”—and the holding of open kacheris to address consumer grievances.
GM Operations Muhammad Zubair Kundi commended SE Hizbullah Khan Mehsud and his team for meeting operational targets in November 2025 and set forth new objectives for the month of December, signaling a continued push for efficiency and accountability.
SE Mehsud briefed attendees on several initiatives designed to facilitate PESCO consumers, including the establishment of a Maintenance (MNT) laboratory, the creation of a dedicated computer section, repair of non-functional vehicles, and the provision of new vehicles for staff.
GM Kundi directed that these requirements be formally forwarded to PESCO Headquarters for necessary action, highlighting the importance of institutional support for operational improvements.
Officials were also instructed to expedite the combing and upgrade of Muslim Bazaar feeders in Dera Ismail Khan to Category One, reflecting an effort to enhance network reliability. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach toward electricity theft, GM Operations further ordered strict action against any PESCO personnel found involved in malpractice.
The meeting underscored the company’s commitment to improving service delivery, reinforcing operational discipline, and safeguarding both consumer interests and organizational integrity.
