GWADAR: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has achieved a historic milestone with the launch of its first international flight from the newly inaugurated Gwadar International Airport to Muscat. The inaugural flight, PK-197, departed on schedule, carrying 39 passengers.
This marked the beginning of international operations at the state-of-the-art Gwadar airport, with PIA initially operating a weekly flight between Gwadar and Muscat to cater to the growing demand for air travel and to strengthen regional connectivity.
PIA officials at Gwadar airport bid farewell to the passengers, expressing the airline’s commitment to expanding its services in alignment with public needs and national aspirations. On that occasion, the Karachi-Gwadar flight PK-503 touched down at the new facility, symbolising a new chapter in the country’s aviation history.
The flight, carrying 46 passengers, received a water salute upon arrival, marking the occasion with a sense of pride. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the Gwadar International Airport’s inauguration is not only a milestone in Pakistan’s aviation history but also a testament to the enduring Pakistan-China friendship, particularly through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
