DHAKA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt congratulations to Professor Muhammad Yunus, who has been appointed as the interim leader of Bangladesh. In a tweet on Friday, PM Sharif expressed his optimism for enhanced bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh under Yunus’s leadership.
In his congratulatory message, PM Sharif said, “Heartiest felicitations to Professor Muhammad Yunus. I wish him immense success in steering Bangladesh towards a peaceful and prosperous future. I am eager to collaborate with him to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the coming days.” This gesture underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with its neighbor and signifies a desire for increased collaboration on various fronts.
Professor Muhammad Yunus, a distinguished Nobel Peace Prize laureate renowned for his groundbreaking work in microfinance, has taken on the role of “chief adviser” to Bangladesh’s transitional government. The oath-taking ceremony, which took place at the presidential office in Dhaka, was presided over by President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
Yunus, at the age of 84, steps into this role at a crucial juncture for Bangladesh, with expectations that his leadership will usher in stability and foster economic and social progress. Yunus is celebrated for his significant contributions to economic development in Bangladesh through his pioneering microfinance initiatives.
