PM Shehbaz Sharif urges swift execution of investment projects and highlights economic opportunities

ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction with Moody’s recent upgrade of Pakistan’s credit rating, attributing the improvement to the efforts of the economic team and divine blessings. Addressing a review meeting on the nation’s economic development and investment strategies, PM Sharif emphasized that the upgrade was a result of prioritizing national interests over personal political gains during his previous tenure as prime minister.
In his remarks, the prime minister highlighted that Pakistan’s economy, once on the brink of default, had now stabilized and was progressing towards development. He described Moody’s Caa2 rating as a significant international endorsement of the government’s economic policies and expressed optimism about the economy’s continued positive trajectory.
PM Sharif commended the finance minister and his team for their substantial progress in enhancing the economic situation and acknowledged the interest shown by friendly countries in investing billions in various sectors. He warned against delays in executing these investment projects, stressing that any such delays would not be tolerated. He instructed all ministers and relevant institutions to expedite progress on these proposed projects.
Emphasizing Pakistan’s potential, the prime minister noted that the country offers significant investment opportunities in sectors such as information technology, agriculture, minerals and precious stones, and energy. He underscored that foreign investment in these areas would not only boost domestic exports but also create employment opportunities for millions of young people.
During the meeting, PM Sharif was briefed on Moody’s credit rating upgrade, ongoing investment agreements with friendly nations, and progress on projects under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He stressed the importance of transparency in all projects and instructed for their prompt and priority-based implementation.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Sardar Owais Khan Leghari, Dr. Musadik Malik, Abdul Aleem Khan, and Ministers of State Ali Pervaiz Malik and Shaza Fatima Khawaja. Also present were Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, and other senior officials.
