ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a directive for the immediate implementation of the e-office system across all government offices, tasking the Ministry of Information Technology and other relevant departments with the responsibility. The prime minister emphasized the need for a paperless office environment within a month, warning that any delays in adopting the e-office system would be unacceptable.
During a high-level meeting, PM Shehbaz underscored the importance of digitization for enhancing transparency and efficiency in government operations. “There should be no file work without e-office in government offices from next month,” he stated, highlighting that the shift to a digital platform is a top priority for his administration. The prime minister also instructed all government officers to transition their file work to the e-office system, ensuring full compliance with the new directive.
In line with this mandate, the staff at the PM Office has already completed their e-office training, setting an example for other departments to follow. Last week, the prime minister himself received files through the e-office system, demonstrating the government’s commitment to the digital transformation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the e-office initiative as a crucial step towards improving governance and promoting digitization in the country. He has also ordered a report on the progress of the e-office implementation to be presented within the next two weeks, underlining the urgency of the transition and the government’s resolve to modernize administrative processes.
This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance the efficiency and transparency of government operations, reducing reliance on traditional paper-based systems, and fostering a culture of accountability and swift decision-making in public administration.
