ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif unveiled ambitious plans to revitalize the country’s economy, emphasizing the importance of strengthening export industries and broadening the tax net without increasing taxes.
In a meeting focused on economic revival and reforms, the Prime Minister outlined key strategies to bolster economic health and financial stability. During the session, Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated that enhancing the economy remains a top priority for his government. He underscored the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive support to export industries, aiming to expand the global market reach of Pakistan’s exports.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of supporting small, medium, and large-scale industries across the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz called for the submission of reports detailing economic reforms in various sectors in phased approaches. He highlighted the significance of prioritizing value-added exports in the country’s export policy, with a vision to integrate Pakistan’s exports into the international value chain.
Recognizing the need for expertise in the export sector, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the utilization of international experts to enhance export capabilities effectively. The meeting was attended by federal ministers, including Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Jam Kamal Khan, among others, along with relevant senior officials.
Various proposals for reforms in different economic sectors, including power, revenue generation, and industrial development, were presented during the session. Prime Minister Shehbaz also directed the submission of a comprehensive plan to enhance the existing capacity in the power sector, underlining the government’s commitment to ensuring a robust energy infrastructure.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of equipping the youth with contemporary education and skills, directing the launch of a skill development program in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan to empower the younger generation and prepare them for the future job market. Prime Minister Shehbaz’s initiatives reflect a proactive approach towards economic revitalization, demonstrating the government’s resolve to usher in a new era of prosperity and development for Pakistan.
