Shehbaz says terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan, effective operations being conducted against them

ISLAMABAD: In a resolute statement at a federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government’s dedication to eradicating terrorism and ensuring national security. His declaration comes in response to a surge in terrorist activities that have claimed over 50 lives, including several soldiers, in recent tragic incidents.
“The activities of terrorists will be completely eradicated from the country,” Prime Minister Sharif asserted, emphasizing that there is no place for terrorism in Pakistan. He condemned the recent violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing the attacks as heinous and aimed at disrupting the nation’s progress. “The purpose of these terrorist activities is to sow confusion and disrupt the progress of the nation,” he said, vowing that the “dirty ambitions of terrorists will be crushed.”
To address the situation directly, the prime minister announced plans to visit Balochistan soon. This visit will include comprehensive discussions with local authorities and stakeholders to assess the ground realities and strategize against the threats. “Yesterday’s events are momentous, but the country will overcome these challenges with unity,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in confronting terrorism.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that no leniency would be shown to those who collaborate with the enemies of the state. However, he maintained that dialogue remains a possibility for those who are committed to the Constitution and the sovereignty of Pakistan. “Doors are open for dialogue only with those who believe in the Constitution and accept Pakistan,” he noted.
Reaffirming his government’s resolve, Sharif stated, “We have to move forward with firm intention,” and declared, “There is no chance of any kind of weakness.” He stressed the commitment to countering terrorist threats effectively, underscoring that the nation is united in its fight against terrorism. The prime minister also claimed that terrorist groups are operating from Afghanistan and assured that effective operations are underway to target these threats. He praised the efforts of Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir and the armed forces, recognizing their dedication to ending terrorism. “The time has come to end terrorism,” Sharif declared, emphasizing that the sole aim of terrorists is to impede the country’s progress.
