KARACHI: A poetry recital was held on the sixth day of a 10-day flower show organised under the patronage of Korangi Town chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, drawing large crowds to Eidgah Ground in Karachi.
The spring festival, which has attracted strong public interest since its opening, saw an evening mushaira arranged by the literary group Bismil Arts Council. Prominent poets, writers and literature enthusiasts from across the city attended the event.
The programme began with a recitation from the Qur’an and a naat, followed by the formal start of the mushaira. Poets presented verses on love, peace, social issues, patriotism and human emotion, receiving warm applause from the audience. Several couplets prompted laughter and prolonged praise, giving the gathering a lively atmosphere.
Organisers said the aim of the event was to promote literary activity in the city and encourage younger generations to engage with poetry and the arts.
On the occasion, the chairman and president of Bismil Arts Council presented a shield to Muhammad Naeem Sheikh in recognition of his efforts. The Korangi Town chairman, in turn, presented traditional ajrak as gifts to distinguished guests.
He announced that on the final day of the festival, to be held on Sunday, four complete Umrah packages and 10 motorcycles would be distributed among winners through a raffle draw.
Residents praised the administration for organising the flower show, saying the strong turnout on the sixth day reflected the event’s growing popularity and its place as a focal point of community life in Korangi.
