KARACHI: Karachi’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of West Zone, Irfan Ali Baloch, conducted an inspection of the Manghopir venue ahead of the annual Tablighi Ijtema, scheduled from 25 to 28 December, to review and strengthen security arrangements.
Upon his arrival, DIG Baloch was welcomed by SSP West Tariq Alhai Mastoi, DSP Manghopir, DSP Pakistan Bazaar, and SHOs of Manghopir and Pakistan Bazaar, along with other senior police officers.
During the visit, he met with the venue management and religious scholars, discussing police security measures in detail. Officials of the Manghopir administration expressed satisfaction with the proposed arrangements and assured full cooperation.
DIG Baloch instructed police officers to deploy walk-through gates and surveillance cameras at all entry and exit points, along with police camps. He emphasized the importance of monitoring parking areas and ensuring cameras are installed for security oversight.
He directed that mobile patrolling and motorcycle patrols be maximized around the venue, and that no officer should perform duty without a bulletproof vest. Regarding intelligence operations, he instructed officers to activate the intelligence network fully, maintain strict surveillance on suspicious individuals, and enhance monitoring throughout the event.
The annual Tablighi Ijtema at Manghopir attracts hundreds of thousands of participants from across Pakistan. The police have undertaken comprehensive measures to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the religious gathering.
