KARACHI: The police announced the arrest of a primary suspect in the gruesome murder of Shazia Abdul Waheed, a 37-year-old woman whose body was discovered on October 21 in a metal trunk at Shaheed Cemetery in the Site Metrovile area. The authorities revealed that Shazia had been brutally tortured and strangled before being placed inside the large storage trunk, which was left abandoned in the graveyard.
At a press conference, Keamari district SSP Investigation Zaheer Javed and SSP Faizan Ali provided updates on the investigation, detailing the timeline of events leading to the arrest. Shazia’s body was found on October 21, and her husband, Abdul Waheed, filed a complaint prompting the police to launch an investigation. They quickly identified and apprehended Irshad Ali, a distant relative of the victim’s husband, who had been involved in an illicit relationship with Shazia for the past 15 years.
Police reports indicated that Irshad, a father of three, had been financially supporting Shazia, who was a mother of four and worked at a private factory in Godhra. Tensions escalated when Irshad suspected Shazia of being unfaithful with other men. On the day of the incident, he invited her to his home, where a heated argument ensued, culminating in him strangling her to death.
The case highlights the complex dynamics surrounding domestic relationships and raises concerns about issues of trust, jealousy, and violence that can lead to tragic outcomes. As the investigation continues, the police are expected to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Shazia’s death and the relationships involved.
