KARACHI: In a major crackdown against organised crime, Bin Qasim police in Karachi’s Malir district arrested six suspects involved in the theft of machinery and valuable metals from local steel mills. The operation also led to the seizure of 22 trucks used to transport stolen materials.
According to Malir SSP Dr. Abdul Khaliq, the arrests followed a tip-off about the group’s illegal activities. Investigations revealed that some steel mill employees were complicit, facilitating the movement of machinery and metals out of the plant.

The gang’s ringleader, identified as Nadeem Hussain, was found coordinating and trading the stolen materials. Authorities recovered over 36 tons of machinery and iron, valued at several crores of rupees, directly from the mill and surrounding warehouses.
Other suspects include Nasar, Abdul Wahid, Liaqat Khan, Zahid Khan, and Khalid Sham. The stolen goods were reportedly being distributed to multiple warehouses for sale, with various accomplices assisting in the operation. Police have registered a case against the suspects under relevant legal provisions, and investigations are ongoing to identify additional facilitators.
