DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Darazinda police have foiled a major drug smuggling attempt and recovered 2,031 grams of high-quality “ice” from secret compartments of a truck, arresting the accused smuggler and registering a case, officials said.
According to police, under the supervision of District Police Officer Dera Ismail Khan Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, district police have continued indiscriminate operations against criminals and drug smugglers. Acting on a tip-off, a team from Darazinda Police Station, led by SP Saddar Division Muhammad Nawab Khan and SDPO Inamullah Khan Gandapur, along with SHO Abdullah Khan, was carrying out routine checking at the Aman Mela check post.
During the operation, check post in-charge Khalilullah stopped a Mazda truck bearing registration number JU-0141 that was travelling from the direction of Zhob. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered four packets of high-quality ice concealed in hidden compartments of the truck. The total weight of the seized narcotics was reported to be 2,031 grams.
Police arrested the truck driver, identified as Sultan Muhammad, son of Muhammad Fazal, a resident of Killi Akhunzada Khel, Tehsil Khanozai, District Pishin, Quetta. A case has been registered against the accused, the truck has been taken into police custody, and further investigation is under way.
