MIRANSHAH: A head constable was martyred, and three police personnel were injured when terrorists attacked a police vehicle in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday, police reported.
The incident took place within the limits of Haved police station in the Sheikhan Mamakhail area, where a police party was on routine duty when assailants opened fire on their vehicle.
Police said their personnel retaliated, leading to an exchange of fire. Head Constable Dilnawaz Khan embraced martyrdom, while three other officials were injured. The attackers set the police vehicle ablaze before fleeing the scene.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan confirmed that two terrorists were killed and two to three others injured during the shootout. Police also seized two motorcycles used by the assailants and launched a search operation in the area. The RPO later visited the hospital to check on the injured personnel.
In a separate incident in the Wazir subdivision, police foiled another terrorist attack. Officers on routine patrol near the under-construction circular road in the Ghar Ghura area of Ahmadzai came under fire, but a timely response forced the attackers to flee. Local sources reported that some terrorists were injured in the exchange.
