DADU: A four-day National Polio Vaccination Campaign began today, February 2, in Dadu District, aiming to administer polio drops to more than 363,000 children under five years of age.
An important review meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office under the chairmanship of DC Dadu, Syed Murtaza Ali Shah, to finalize campaign arrangements, security plans, and deployment of field teams.
MPA Sajila Laghari, DHO Dadu Dr. Syed Imdad Ali Shah, assistant commissioners, representatives from the Health, Education, Local Government departments, police, NGOs, and other relevant authorities attended the session.
Officials provided detailed briefings on micro-plans, field team deployment, and security arrangements. Over 1,200 vaccination teams have been formed, with 280 area in-charges and 52 UC medical officers overseeing the campaign.
Security will be ensured by 1,500 male and female police personnel. Addressing the meeting, DC Syed Murtaza Ali Shah stressed that vaccinating all children under five is essential, as polio is a dangerous disease that can cause lifelong disability. He urged parents to fully cooperate with polio teams.
The DC formally inaugurated the campaign by administering polio drops to children, followed by an awareness rally. Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to officers and social organizations that performed exceptionally during the previous campaign.
