KARACHI: Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the recent reduction in electricity prices, a move hailed as a much-needed relief for ordinary Pakistanis struggling with rising living costs. The appreciation came during a telephonic conversation between the two leaders, signalling a rare instance of bipartisan acknowledgment on a key issue affecting the public.
According to official sources, Hafiz Naeem commended the Prime Minister for taking decisive action to ease the financial burden on the people by cutting electricity tariffs. This gesture comes amid mounting public dissatisfaction with inflation and soaring utility bills, which have placed a significant strain on households across the country. The price cut was viewed as a step in the right direction, offering temporary relief at a time when many Pakistanis are grappling with the consequences of the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
The conversation between the two leaders also ventured into the realm of international politics, particularly concerning the ongoing violence in Gaza. Both Hafiz Naeem and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif voiced their deep concern over the continued Israeli aggression in Gaza and the perceived lack of response from global powers. The leaders highlighted the moral imperative of standing with the Palestinian people in their time of suffering, with Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian cause.
“Pakistan’s position is clear—we stand with our unarmed Palestinian brothers and sisters against Israeli tyranny,” the Prime Minister declared, reflecting the country’s long-standing foreign policy on the issue. He pledged to raise the matter of Israeli oppression on every international platform, calling on the global community to take meaningful action against the continued violations of Palestinian rights.
