
SUKKUR: Girls’ enrollment in Agricultural Engineering College has made a significant contribution to the agro-economy of Khairpur Mir’s district across various sectors, stated PPP lawmaker Syeda Nafessa Shah Jillani during her visit to Khairpur College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology on Tuesday.
PPP lawmakers emphasized that a large number of women have become involved in various sectors of agriculture, stressing the urgent need for more active participation of girls in the agriculture sector to enhance livelihood opportunities for their families and to alleviate poverty from rural areas sustainably.
They noted that recent climate-related disasters have further highlighted the crucial role of trained and skilled women agriculturalists in mitigating the impacts of devastation on livelihoods and related agro-based fields through their expertise in various agricultural technologies. Furthermore, they highlighted that a significant number of educated girls have become involved in various agro-food industries and other value-added agro-economy sectors.
After touring the classes and laboratories, Syeda Nafessa Shah Jillani held meetings with students and pledged to provide them with all necessary educational facilities in the college with the assistance of the Sindh government. She also sought solutions to the issues faced by students in the college. She assured them that power outages would be resolved soon, with plans to establish a solar panel system in the KCAET college to address the power crisis. Additionally, she planted a sample plant in the KCAET College.
