KHANPUR MEHR: Tensions escalated in Khanpur Mehr between PPP MPA Ali Nawaz, also known as Raja Mehr, and businessman Vishal Kumar over alleged financial and personal disputes.
The disagreement drew widespread attention after claims of violence and an alleged abduction, though the latter accusation was later withdrawn. Provincial Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mehr intervened personally, visiting the local Hindu Panchayat and meeting community leaders to ensure justice and mediate the situation.
Sources said the minister assured the Hindu community that, in his presence and that of district chairman Bangal Khan Mehr, no one would be allowed to leave for India and that all disputes, whether minor or major, would be monitored. Vishal Kumar accused Raja Mehr of mistreatment, claiming he had been beaten overnight and threatened over financial disagreements.

Kumar said Mehr owed him Rs 200 million and had allegedly taken loans in his name from banks. He also alleged the disappearance of his father, Lal Chand, on the route from Ghotki to Khanpur Mehr, which he said was intended to pressure him into submission. Raja Mehr strongly denied all allegations of violence or abduction.
Raja Mehr said Vishal Kumar was a business partner who had allegedly committed fraud with others, prompting Mehr to demand an account of the dealings. He called for a transparent investigation and claimed political opponents were using the matter to tarnish his reputation.
Lal Chand later refuted the claim of abduction, explaining that he had simply returned home late after dinner and had not been kidnapped or held hostage. Police clarified that no formal complaint had been filed regarding the incident. SSP Ghotki Anwar Khatran said legal action would only follow if a complainant came forward.
The minister’s intervention, including meetings with the Hindu Panchayat and community leaders, helped calm tensions and reassure the local population that the matter would be resolved fairly.
