SUKKUR: A PPP MPA and tribal chief, Mir Ahmed Jaghirani of the Jaghirani tribe, was booked in a case involving the alleged ransom and kidnapping of two women, including a girl.
Mst Hameeda Dahar, a resident of Rampur Muhalla in Mehar, district Dadu, filed an FIR at A Section Police Station, Mehar, under sections 365 and 496A of the Pakistan Penal Code. She alleged that Mir Ahmed Jaghirani, his wife Zuhran, and others had kidnapped her daughter Fozia and her niece Fatima at gunpoint, taking them to the village of Sundrani in Ghouspur.
According to Dahar, she approached PPP MPA Mir Abid Khan Sundrani to help recover her girls. She claimed that Abid Khan told her the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of three to four million rupees and were unwilling to release the girls without payment.
Dahar said she informed him that, being poor, she could not meet the kidnappers’ demands. She added that she requested his assistance in recovering her daughters, but he allegedly refused to intervene. She urged that her daughters be freed from the kidnappers’ custody. The police registered an FIR against ten accused, including the PPP MPA, and reportedly began an investigation. However, as of the filing of this report, the police were said to be reluctant to take action against the accused.
