KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has refuted rumors suggesting a forthcoming change in the governorship of Sindh, calling such reports mere media speculation. Sindh Provincial Minister Nasir Hussain Shah addressed these rumors in a recent statement, asserting that there are no plans to replace Governor Kamran Khan Tessori.
Nasir Shah explained that recent discussions between Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and President Asif Ali Zardari focused on academic initiatives, specifically the establishment of a campus for a major university from Punjab in Karachi. This meeting, according to Shah, was not related to any changes in the governorship. In addition to clarifying the situation regarding the governorship, Shah announced the activation of Badin Airport, a local government-led project. He emphasized the significance of this development, stating, “Today marks the beginning, and we expect further improvements in the future.”
The provincial minister also highlighted that the launch of a new air ambulance service, aligned with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s vision. The service aims to extend its reach to various locations, including Thar, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, and Mohenjo-Daro, improving accessibility and healthcare delivery in these regions. Furthermore, Shah underscored the strategic importance of Sukkur, describing it as the heart of Sindh and a vital link between Balochistan and Punjab. He called for federal support to enhance local council capabilities and infrastructure. As the PPP continues to focus on regional development and infrastructure improvements, the party remains committed to advancing its agenda for the benefit of Sindh and its residents.
