KARACHI: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) marked 78 years of humanitarian service with a conference at the Institute of Business Administration’s Jehangir Siddiqui Auditorium in Karachi on Sunday.
Governor Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, attended as chief guest and praised PRCS for its decades-long commitment to relief work. The Governor pledged full support to help PRCS tackle financial challenges and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening humanitarian initiatives.
Chairman of PRCS Sindh Chapter, Rehan Hashmi, noted that the organization has successfully engaged youth volunteers, filling gaps left by groups such as the National Cadet Corps and Girl Guides. He announced that a launch ceremony for 200 new PRCS volunteers would soon be held at the Governor House.
Hashmi explained that the seminar included four sessions covering healthcare, climate law, climate change and disaster risk reduction, reflecting PRCS’s comprehensive approach to humanitarian diplomacy.
Speakers at the conference included PRCS Head of Administration Obaid Ullah Khan, Irfan Awan from the German Red Cross, Zia Ullah Fareed, Director General of the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency, climate activist Waqar Hussain Phulphoto, Huma Ikram, Dean of Al-Kaithar University, Professor Dr Minhaj Kudwai, councillor CPSP, Abdullah Muttaqi, Kanwar Waseem, and the Provincial Head of PRCS Sindh.
