ISLAMABD: Pakistan joined a global chorus of solidarity on Friday as the country observed Palestine Solidarity Day, with rallies, marches, and demonstrations organized to highlight what campaigners described as the ongoing brutality faced by civilians in Gaza. Across major cities, activists, community leaders, and members of the public took to the streets to call for an end to the violence and to show support for the Palestinian people.
In statements released on the occasion, both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to supporting Palestinians “until the very end.” President Zardari said the country would continue providing political, diplomatic, humanitarian, and moral assistance, while noting Islamabad’s constructive involvement in efforts connected to Gaza ceasefire negotiations.
Prime Minister Sharif stressed that Israel’s full withdrawal from Palestinian territories was a prerequisite for any lasting peace in the region. He accused Israel of committing what he described as war crimes and systematic genocide, underscoring the need for accountability in line with international law.
Sharif also praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, describing their struggle as “just, legitimate and rooted in the quest for freedom, dignity and prosperity,” and reiterated Pakistan’s firm support as Palestinians continued to demand their fundamental rights.
From Karachi to Islamabad, streets filled with solidarity marches, public gatherings, and community events, as citizens voiced their opposition to the ongoing conflict and called for an immediate end to hostilities. The day served both as a demonstration of public empathy and as a signal of Pakistan’s continued diplomatic and moral engagement on the Palestinian issue.
