KARACHI: Former President Asif Ali Zardari’s return to Pakistan after a brief medical stay in Dubai has drawn attention, not only due to his health condition but also in the context of his ongoing political role. Zardari, who had been in Dubai for treatment, had sustained a leg fracture when he was disembarking from an aircraft at Dubai Airport. The injury, which occurred under relatively routine circumstances, led to his hospitalization for immediate medical attention.
Doctors treated him by applying a cast to his foot and advised him to take a period of rest lasting about four weeks. This brief period of recovery in Dubai was a rare pause in Zardari’s typically active political and public life. While he was out of the country, there was significant speculation about his health and the state of his political influence.
Zardari’s medical leave coincided with a time of political flux in Pakistan, with ongoing debates about the future of leadership within the PPP and the broader political landscape. Despite his temporary absence from the public eye, his return suggests that he plans to reassert his influence in shaping the party’s direction and navigating the political challenges Pakistan faces.
