LANDI KOTAL: In a significant show of unity, government primary teachers in Landi Kotal took to the streets on Monday, joining a wave of protests across the province. The educators, led by Teachers’ Association President Sharifullah Afridi, are demanding the upgradation and regularization of their positions, calling attention to the need for improved educational standards in underprivileged areas.
Armed with placards emblazoned with their demands, the teachers voiced their frustrations with the provincial government, accusing it of pursuing “anti-education” policies. They emphasized that without proper recognition and support, the quality of education for children in marginalized communities would continue to suffer. “We will be left with no choice but to close schools if our demands are not addressed,” warned Afridi, highlighting the urgency of their situation. The protesting teachers reiterated their long-standing grievances, reminding the government of both current and past promises to enhance their status and conditions.
The demonstration reflects growing discontent among educators, who feel neglected and undervalued in their critical roles. The teachers have also warned that if their requests for upgradation are not met promptly, they will escalate their protests to an indefinite sit-in across the province, disrupting educational activities and drawing further attention to their cause. As the protests continue, the educators remain hopeful for a dialogue with provincial authorities that will lead to a resolution, ensuring that the rights of primary teachers are upheld and that the quality of education in the region is not compromised.
