ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said his WhatsApp account had been hacked, warning contacts to ignore any suspicious messages or financial requests.
Speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said his WhatsApp number was compromised earlier in the day and the account had since been deleted.
He added that hackers were using the account to send messages requesting money, potentially targeting people in his contact list. Gohar urged the public and his associates not to respond to any such requests.
He further stated that he had approached the relevant authorities regarding the breach and that efforts were underway to address the issue and prevent misuse.
The incident highlights growing concerns over cybersecurity and the misuse of messaging platforms for financial fraud, particularly involving impersonation and account takeovers.
