ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan clarified that the party had not been informed about the formation of a government committee for negotiations. Speaking candidly, Khan welcomed the formation of such a committee, noting that it could be a positive step toward dialogue.
Khan emphasized that PTI has entrusted Mahmood Khan Achakzai with the responsibility of engaging in discussions with the government. “We have no objections to Mahmood Khan’s talks with the government. We are open to considering the proposals that he brings forward after these discussions,” Khan stated. He further revealed that the PTI founder had granted permission to Mahmood Khan Achakzai to engage in talks with the government weeks ago, indicating that the party is receptive to the negotiation process. In related developments, PTI recently announced the postponement of its Lahore rally, which was originally scheduled for August 27.
According to PTI Punjab Information Secretary Shaukat Basra, the party’s focus has now shifted to the Islamabad rally, which has also been rescheduled. The Islamabad rally, initially planned for August 22, will now take place on September 8, following a directive from the PTI founder and a request from the Islamabad administration. The administration has issued a new No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the revised date. The new date for the Lahore rally will be announced after the Islamabad event. These changes in PTI’s rally schedule highlight the party’s strategic approach as it navigates ongoing political dynamics and prepares for future engagements with the government.
