ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) submitted a miscellaneous petition to the Islamabad High Court (IHC), requesting permission to meet with lawyers and political leaders. The petition, filed through PTI leader Barrister Ali Zafar, highlights a discrepancy with the IHC’s February 26 ruling, which permits six lawyers and six political leaders to visit the PTI founder twice a week. The petition asserts that the jail authorities are currently not allowing these visits.

The petitioner, who is under judicial remand and not serving a sentence, has requested the court to address the alleged violation of his fundamental rights. The petition seeks a report on the adherence to the February 26 decision and has named the secretary of the interior, Islamabad chief commissioner, and Adiala jail superintendent as respondents.

In related news, PTI has announced plans to stage a major public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on September 15. PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub has submitted the necessary application to the district administration for the event. Additionally, the party is preparing for another significant rally in Islamabad on September 8. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will oversee the organizing committee for the Islamabad event, which includes notable members such as Ali Asghar Khan, Bilal Ijaz, Taimur Malik, Shoaib Shaheen, and Aamir Mughal.
