KHYBER: Leaders and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Jamrod held a packed press conference at the Jamrod Press Club to express gratitude to PTI Chairman and detained leader Imran Khan for nominating Mohsin Suhail Afridi, a tribal-area leader, as the next Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PTI Jmerod representatives, including Ashfaq Afridi, Muhammad Sadiq Afridi, Kashif Iqbal Afridi, Nisbat Ali Afridi, Gul Habib Afridi, and Shahid Ali Afridi, called Imran Khan’s decision historic and farsighted. They said nominating a leader from the tribal district of Khyber not only acknowledges the long-neglected tribal populace but also gives the region meaningful political representation for the first time.
The leaders emphasized that tribal communities have long sought integration into the national mainstream, and Imran Khan’s decision reflects his political insight and commitment to the welfare of the tribes. They described Afridi’s appointment as a step that will open a new chapter of development, peace, and prosperity in the region.
Participants expressed serious concerns over attempts by certain quarters to obstruct the nomination process. They warned that any interference in Suhail Afridi’s path would provoke a strong response from the tribal populace, and such conspiracies would not be tolerated.
PTI leaders rejected and condemned statements and allegations made by Federal Minister Atta Tarar and criticized the DG ISPR’s comments regarding the provincial government formation. They also called on the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to immediately accept the resignation of Ali Amin Gandapur, fulfilling his constitutional duty, warning that failure to do so would lead to protests and sit-ins outside the Governor House.
The conference concluded with a unanimous resolution expressing full confidence in Imran Khan’s leadership and endorsing the nomination of Mohsin Suhail Afridi as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urging full support for his leadership and transparent internal party processes to ensure tribal areas receive their rightful representation.
