LONDON: Pakistan has called on the British government to take swift legal action after video footage emerged showing individuals in the UK making death threats against the country’s military leadership.
According to Pakistani officials, the video, circulated on 23 December 2025 via a PTI-associated UK account, depicted protesters openly threatening Field Marshal Asim Munir with a car-bomb attack. The footage reportedly included a woman stating that anyone could target the army chief with explosives.
Authorities in Islamabad condemned the video as incitement to terrorism rather than an exercise of free speech or political dissent. Officials said PTI-affiliated social media users amplified the video by sharing it via official channels, a move described as a blatant violation of international law.
Pakistan cited United Nations Security Council Resolution 1373, which obliges states to prevent financing, support, or incitement of terrorism, as well as the UK’s Terrorism Act 2006, which criminalizes the encouragement of terrorist acts.
Pakistani sources stated that the incident underscores the misuse of British territory to promote anti-state agendas and highlighted concerns over PTI’s contradictory approach—claiming dialogue while simultaneously encouraging hostile actions against the Pakistani state.
In response, Pakistan has formally requested that UK authorities identify the individuals involved, investigate the matter, and pursue legal action under both domestic and international law. Officials said the episode constitutes a test of Britain’s commitment to counter-terrorism obligations and responsible state conduct.
