‘PTI leadership wanted to create a scenario akin to that of Khalida Zia’s era but failed miserably,’ Bukhari said

By our correspondent

LAHORE: Punjab’s Information Minister, Azma Bukhari, has sharply criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, alleging that its leaders are trying to replicate the chaos that led to the formation of Bangladesh. During a press conference, she expressed serious concerns over recent PTI protests in Islamabad, asserting that the party’s actions are aimed at inciting unrest and confusion within the country.

Bukhari accused the PTI of utilizing resources from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to further its agenda against the federal government. She highlighted that during a recent protest, 120 Afghan nationals were arrested, and one police constable lost his life, questioning the justification for such violence. She remarked, “The PTI leadership wanted to create a scenario akin to that of Khalida Zia’s era but failed miserably,” referring to a tumultuous period in Pakistan’s political history.

The minister emphasized that children and innocent individuals were manipulated into participating in the protests, only to discover they were being used for violent objectives. She further accused PTI activists of arriving armed with weapons, casting doubt on their claims of being a peaceful political entity. Bukhari condemned the destruction of police vehicles and vandalism of security cameras during the demonstrations, branding these actions as an affront to the state.

Bukhari called on the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to reflect on why their province is not developing at the same pace as Punjab, demanding accountability from PTI leaders. She accused them of conspiring to destabilize the country while hiding behind their political ambitions. In a pointed warning, Bukhari stated that any attempts to sabotage upcoming events, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting, would not be tolerated.
