Florian Berg lauded the Punjab govt’s response, saying, “I can never forget the support extended to me by the Punjab government. Pakistan is my favorite country, and I would love to visit again”

LAHORE: The Punjab government, acting on directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has allocated Rs500,000 in aid to Florian Berg, a German tourist who was recently robbed in Lahore. The assistance is part of the government’s broader efforts to ensure the safety and security of tourists visiting the region.

Punjab Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal personally met with Berg to convey his condolences and reassure him of the government’s commitment to addressing the incident. Mengal emphasized that the Punjab administration is dedicated to protecting visitors and ensuring their well-being. “We are taking measures to ensure their security and safety,” Mengal remarked, underscoring that all tourists are treated with high regard and care.

Mengal also provided an update on the investigation, revealing that Lahore police are employing advanced technology to track down the perpetrators of the robbery. “The Lahore police will soon apprehend the culprits,” he assured, highlighting ongoing efforts to resolve the case promptly.

Florian Berg, who was camping on a street in Lahore when the robbery occurred, expressed profound gratitude for the support he received. In a statement, he praised the hospitality and warmth of the Pakistani people, stating, “Pakistanis are loving and lively people. The beauty of this country’s landscapes is matched by the beauty of its people’s hearts.” Berg also lauded the Punjab government’s response, saying, “I can never forget the support extended to me by the Punjab government and the public. Pakistan is my favorite country, and I would love to visit again.”

The incident, which occurred a few days prior, has highlighted the Punjab government’s prompt and compassionate response to ensuring tourist safety. As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on bringing those responsible for the robbery to justice and reinforcing the security measures in place for visitors.
