LAHORE: The Punjab government has urged the public to strictly follow safety measures to ensure peaceful and secure Basant celebrations in Lahore.
In a media statement, Home Department Punjab Secretary Ahmad Javed Qazi said comprehensive administrative and security arrangements had been put in place across the city ahead of the festivities.
Qazi added that all relevant government departments were on high alert and actively performing their duties to safeguard the public. He emphasized that these measures were aimed at preventing accidents, maintaining order, and ensuring that citizens could celebrate the festival without risk to life or property.
The secretary called on residents to act responsibly, stressing that personal vigilance was key to protecting one’s own life and the safety of family members. He said the success of Basant celebrations depended not only on government arrangements but also on citizens observing safety precautions and cooperating with authorities.
Officials said that teams from law enforcement, emergency services, and municipal authorities were deployed across Lahore to monitor festival activities, provide rapid response in case of incidents, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The government appealed to the public to remain alert, avoid risky behavior, and report any unsafe activities to authorities.
Qazi concluded by urging communities to celebrate the festival in a spirit of joy and responsibility, highlighting that collective adherence to safety measures would help preserve the cultural tradition while protecting lives and property.
