QALAT: A large-scale operation against drugs and smuggling in Balochistan’s Qalat district has led to the seizure of narcotics and foreign goods worth billions of rupees, officials said.
The joint operation was carried out by the district administration, customs authorities and the Frontier Corps under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed Durrani. Officials said three major warehouses were raided in the Khaliqabad area, where a significant quantity of drugs and smuggled foreign goods was recovered.
According to a spokesperson for the district administration, the seized items included thousands of tones of goods, tens of thousands of meters of cloth, tyres and other foreign products. The total value of the recovered items is estimated to be in the billions of rupees.

Deputy Commissioner Durrani said the confiscated narcotics and smuggled goods would be handed over to customs authorities for further legal proceedings. He stressed that the administration was using all available resources to rid the area of drugs, calling narcotics a “social curse” that destroys generations, particularly the youth.
He said a zero-tolerance policy was being strictly enforced against drug trafficking and smuggling, adding that a formal crackdown had begun across the district. Those involved in smuggling and other illegal activities would be pursued and dealt with under the law, he said, vowing that efforts would continue until such activities were eliminated from the area.
