LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators produced a stunning performance in the 18th match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, demolishing Multan Sultans by 10 wickets at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday. This dominant victory, their fourth in six matches, propelled the Gladiators into second place on the points table, reinforcing their status as serious contenders for the title this season.
The Gladiators’ chase of a modest target of 90 was nothing short of clinical, completing the task in under seven overs. This all-round performance highlighted their potential and placed them firmly in the playoff hunt, with eight points and an impressive net run rate (NRR) of 1.034.
Meanwhile, Islamabad United continues to lead the standings with a flawless record of five wins from five matches, sitting atop with 10 points and an outstanding NRR of 2.342—currently the highest in the tournament. They remain the team to beat, boasting both consistency and dominance in all departments.
In contrast, Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings are both on six points, but Lahore’s superior NRR of 0.543 sees them edge ahead into fourth place. Peshawar Zalmi, despite showing moments of promise, sit in fifth with four points and a negative NRR of -0.847.
At the bottom of the table, Multan Sultans find themselves in a perilous position with just two points from seven games. Their playoff chances are hanging by a thread, as even a perfect finish to their campaign, with six points from the remaining matches, would likely fall short of securing a place in the playoffs—a fate no team has faced since 2022.
Looking ahead, the next fixture promises excitement as top-ranked Islamabad United face off against three-time champions Lahore Qalandars. Islamabad will be aiming to secure their playoff berth with a win, while Lahore will be desperate to avoid slipping further down the standings. The clash is set to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams looking to make their mark in the race for the playoffs.
