KARACHI: : Rain, windstorms and possible hail are forecast in several parts of Pakistan from March 9 to 12, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.
The authority warned that hailstorms may occur in Islamabad and upper areas of the Potohar Plateau during this period. Weather alerts have also been issued for Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.
According to NDMA, windstorms and light rain are expected in cities including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Mianwali over the next few days.
Light rain is also forecast in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Abbottabad, Chitral, Dir, Kohat, Mansehra, and Nowshera.
Partly cloudy conditions with light rain are expected in areas of Gilgit-Baltistan including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza Valley, and Diamer District, as well as in Muzaffarabad, Bagh District, and Poonch District.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab has also issued a rain alert for upper Punjab, including Murree and the Galiyat area.
Despite rainfall in northern regions, authorities said temperatures in the plains of Punjab could rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal levels in the coming days.
