TEHRAN: TEHRAN: Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, said the only viable path to ending the war initiated by the United States and the Israeli government was the recognition of Iran’s constitutional rights under international law.
Speaking amid rising regional tensions, Pezeshkian said any meaningful resolution of the conflict must begin with acknowledging Iran’s sovereign rights and addressing the damage inflicted on the country. He stressed that Iran expected compensation for the losses caused by the conflict and called for firm international guarantees to ensure that no further acts of aggression would be carried out against the country.
The Iranian president said Tehran remained open to diplomatic solutions but insisted that peace could only be achieved through respect for Iran’s legal and constitutional framework. According to Pezeshkian, ignoring these principles would only prolong instability and deepen mistrust in the region.
He added that during recent conversations with Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, and Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, he reiterated Iran’s commitment to regional peace and stability. Pezeshkian said the discussions focused on diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and promote dialogue among regional and global stakeholders.
The Iranian leader emphasised that while Iran sought peace, it would continue to defend its sovereignty and national interests. He urged the international community to play a constructive role in preventing further escalation and to support efforts aimed at achieving a durable and just resolution to the conflict.
