KARACHI: In a move aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers, the government has announced a significant reduction in the prices of petroleum products, effective from September 1, 2024. This adjustment comes as a welcome relief to the public amidst the ongoing fluctuations in global oil prices.
The price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs. 3.32 per liter. Previously priced at Rs. 266.07 per liter, HSD will now cost Rs. 262.75 per liter. This reduction is expected to have a positive impact on various sectors dependent on diesel, including transportation and agriculture. Similarly, the price of petrol has been lowered by Rs. 1.86 per liter, decreasing from Rs. 260.96 to Rs. 259.10 per liter. This adjustment reflects a moderate easing in petrol prices, which is likely to benefit daily commuters and motorists.
The price of kerosene oil has also been revised downward by Rs. 2.15 per liter, bringing it down from Rs. 171.77 to Rs. 169.62 per liter. Kerosene oil is widely used in rural areas for cooking and heating, and this price cut will be advantageous for those reliant on this fuel. Furthermore, the price of Light Diesel Oil (LDO) has been reduced by Rs. 2.97 per liter, dropping from Rs. 157.02 to Rs. 154.05 per liter.
