KARACHI: Religious scholars from across various schools of thought have united in their condemnation of the disturbances that occurred during a recent religious rally in the Golimar area of Karachi. They have called on the city’s residents to counter the attempts of those aiming to incite unrest and division.

Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi described the incident as a deliberate plot to undermine Karachi’s peace and harmony. He urged participants and supporters to maintain calm and resist any attempts to create discord. Farooqi emphasized that the disruptions were intended to provoke violence and destabilize the community’s efforts toward unity.

Maulana Syed Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi condemned the rise of extremism and sectarianism, which he believes were central to the disturbances. His statement highlighted the importance of unity and peaceful conduct, urging all groups to focus on collective well-being rather than engaging in conflict.

Syed Nazir Abbas Naqvi also spoke out strongly against the miscreants responsible for the violence during the rally. He stressed the necessity of countering these disruptive forces and protecting the community from attempts to ignite sectarian tensions. Naqvi’s comments underscored the need for vigilance and solidarity to prevent the spread of discord.

Maulana Taj Hanfi joined the chorus of condemnation, specifically addressing the unrest that erupted during the religious procession in Golimar. Hanfi’s condemnation was directed at those who sought to undermine the peaceful nature of the event with their actions. The rally, which was meant to be a peaceful religious gathering, was marred by a violent clash between groups. The altercation resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to nine others.

In the aftermath, enraged participants set several vehicles on fire, further escalating the situation. The violence has been widely condemned by religious leaders, who have called for a return to peaceful dialogue and community harmony. The scholars’ unified stance against the violence and their calls for peace reflect a strong commitment to maintaining stability and promoting unity within Karachi’s diverse community.
