MESAR: Leaders of Shahri Ittehad Sindhi Buttra have protested against prolonged electricity load shedding on the Old Beto Feeder by SEPCO, even during the holy month of Ramadan. Wadero Aajiz Ajeebullah Qambrani, Syed Masoom Ali Shah, Noor Muhammad Jatoi, and Ashiq Qambrani reached the National Press Club Mehar and held a protest, expressing strong concern over the situation.
Speaking to the media, they said the Old Beto Feeder is the only feeder connected to the Mehar Sub-Division and Mehar Grid Station, but it is being treated unfairly. They alleged that SEPCO officials, including the XEN and SDO, have been holding press conferences claiming that electricity load shedding has been eliminated during Sehri, Iftar, and Taraweeh prayers. However, residents of hundreds of villages connected to the Old Beto Feeder continue to face more than 18 hours of load shedding.
The leaders questioned what fault the people of these villages had committed, noting that two ice factories, more than five industrial units, and hundreds of households are connected to this feeder and regularly pay their electricity bills. Despite this, they claimed SEPCO continues what they described as unjust treatment.
They demanded that load shedding on the Old Beto Feeder be immediately stopped during Ramadan, relief be provided to residents, and justice ensured. They warned that if their demands are not met, the scope of their protest will be expanded.
