
KARACHI: Rotary Pakistan has extended its warmest congratulations to Olympian Arshad Nadeem for winning Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in an individual category at the 2024 Olympics. This historic achievement not only marks a significant milestone in Pakistani sports but also underscores the latent talent present at the grassroots level in the country.
In celebration of this landmark victory, Rotary Pakistan has pledged its full support to Nadeem in promoting javelin throwing across the nation, with a particular focus on school-level engagement. To build on Nadeem’s success, a collaborative program will be developed to identify, nurture, and train future Olympians, ensuring that his legacy inspires and shapes the next generation of athletes. As part of this initiative, Arshad Nadeem has been appointed as Rotary Pakistan’s ambassador.
In this role, he will serve as a mentor and source of inspiration for young people throughout the country, fostering a new wave of talent in sports. Muhammad Faiz Kidwai, Rotary International Director for 2022-24, lauded Nadeem’s dedication and perseverance in achieving excellence in sports. He announced that in recognition of Nadeem’s remarkable performance and his contribution to instilling confidence and hope among Pakistani youth, he will be honored with the Rotary Pakistan Nation Builders Award 2024.
The prestigious award will be presented by Mario César Martins de Camargo, President of Rotary International 2025-2026, in a special ceremony scheduled for September 5, 2024. Kidwai expressed confidence that the partnership between Rotary Pakistan and Arshad Nadeem will play a transformative role in promoting athletics at the grassroots level in Pakistan, setting the stage for future successes in sports.
