KARACHI: Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, chairman of MQM Pakistan, has announced a forthcoming development package of Rs25 billion for Karachi and Rs10 billion for Hyderabad, expected to be released next year.
The announcement came after a meeting with central committee members, senators, and national and provincial assembly representatives focused on addressing urban Sindh’s pressing public issues. Siddiqui revealed that discussions with the federal government are ongoing to advance infrastructure and other vital development projects.
MQM-P chief acknowledged challenges stemming from resource allocation and jurisdictional disputes but reaffirmed MQM Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the people despite these hurdles. He urged MQM lawmakers to remain closely connected with the public, particularly regarding shortages of water, electricity, and gas.
Siddiqui encouraged representatives to participate in protests if needed to raise awareness of these problems and instructed party members to maintain a daily presence at the Bahadurabad center to promptly address citizens’ concerns.
Senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar also emphasized the importance of assembly members focusing on their duties during the upcoming Eid ul-Adha festival and called on them to contribute ideas for the federal shadow budget. This announcement comes amid growing public demand for improved basic services in Sindh’s major urban centers, reflecting mounting pressure on political leaders to deliver tangible and timely results.
