LAHORE: The chairman of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA), Shahid Ashraf Tarar, accompanied by CEO Imran Amin, conducted an extensive site visit on Monday to review the progress of various development projects in Ravi City, with a particular focus on embankments and river training works along the River Ravi.
The visit began at the river training site, where efforts are underway to restore the river’s natural flow by constructing a main creek integrated with a series of promenades featuring varied elevations designed to regulate and mitigate the water cycle. Most of the first phase has already been completed at an accelerated pace.
Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar emphasized RUDA’s core mission to revive the River Ravi, saying, “It is a matter of pride that we have made significant progress. In the coming years, the river will flow year-round, carrying 59 billion liters of water through its first barrage.”
The officials also inspected construction on Package 6, which links the existing earthworks to the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (LSM), enhancing connectivity. CEO Imran Amin visited Nath Village to review ongoing development efforts including a dispensary, school, entrance gate, roads, drainage systems and street pavers.
