MOSCOW: Russia has asserted that it possesses evidence implicating the United States and the United Kingdom in the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. This revelation comes from Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, who stated that the decision to publish this evidence will depend on the evolving situation surrounding the investigation.

In her comments, Zakharova referenced data obtained by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR). She expressed frustration over the lack of cooperation from Western nations, particularly Germany, Denmark, and Sweden, stating, “We have repeatedly offered cooperation to everyone… and we received zero response.” Zakharova emphasized that Russia had not only expressed a willingness to collaborate but had also insisted on it, especially in light of ongoing investigations in those countries.

The spokeswoman pointed out that while Russia has conducted its own investigation, it had also sought to share findings under the auspices of the United Nations. However, she alleged that the West has blocked these initiatives. “Therefore, we carry out our own investigation,” she added, indicating that Russia has gathered information that it believes supports its claims of Western involvement.

SVR Director Sergey Naryshkin had previously stated that professional saboteurs from Anglo-Saxon intelligence agencies were involved in the organization and execution of the Nord Stream detonations. He characterized the U.S. Administration’s rationale for the sabotage as a strategic move to ensure Europe, particularly Germany, would sever its energy ties with Russia.

As the situation develops, Zakharova reaffirmed that Russia is prepared to manage its evidence in a manner that reflects the current dynamics of the investigation. The accusations come amid ongoing tensions between Russia and the West, particularly over energy security and geopolitical strategies in Europe.
