
KARACHI: Saeed Ghani, Sindh’s Minister for Local Government, Housing Town Planning, and Public Health Engineering, has called for the expeditious completion of developmental projects across the province, emphasizing the need to accelerate work on key initiatives such as the Malir Expressway.
During a pivotal meeting chaired by Saeed Ghani to review the progress of developmental projects under the jurisdiction of the local government department, the minister underscored the imperative of ensuring timely completion and effective implementation of public projects across Sindh. Among the projects discussed, special attention was given to the Malir Expressway, with Ghani stressing the importance of expediting work on this vital infrastructure project.
Key stakeholders, including Additional Chief Secretary Syed Khalid Hyder Shah, Project Director Malir Expressway Niaz Soomro, Project Director Mega Project Inner Sindh Abdul Ghani Shaikh, and Deputy Commissioner Shujaat Hussain, were present at the meeting. Detailed briefings were provided on the status of ongoing developmental works, with a particular focus on the Malir Expressway and Faisal Avenue beautification scheme.
Niaz Soomro provided updates on the progress of the Malir Expressway, informing attendees that the project is advancing rapidly and is slated for completion by June 30, 2025. With a budget of 27 billion rupees allocated for the 38-kilometer expressway, efforts are underway to ensure its timely delivery to the public.
During the session, Ghani emphasized the need to promptly open all completed interchanges along the expressway for public use, underscoring the importance of facilitating efficient transportation infrastructure across Sindh. Furthermore, he called for a comprehensive report on 92 ongoing schemes, including the beautification initiative for Faisal Avenue, as per directives from the Chief Minister of Sindh.
