SUKKUR: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur commemorated National Defence Day with fervor, organizing a series of patriotic events to honor the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs and armed forces. The celebrations, coordinated by the Students Societies Center (SSC) in collaboration with Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, reflected the university’s commitment to fostering national pride and unity.

The day commenced with a rally led by Vice Chancellor Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Khushk, accompanied by deans and heads of departments (HODs). Faculty members, students, and employees from various departments participated in the rally, which began at the Central Library and concluded at the SSC, where a flag-hoisting ceremony was held. Prof. Dr. Khushk inaugurated the day’s activities, which included a range of events designed to engage the university community. The activities featured a Table Tennis tournament, a Painting and Art contest, a Speech Contest, and an Essay Writing Competition.

The Table Tennis tournament was judged by Prof. Zulfiqar Ali Dahot, Dr. Inayat Bhatti, and Murad Pirzada, Director of Physical Education. The Painting and Art contest, overseen by Mr. Shakeel Ahmad, focal person of the Painting Society, showcased creative talents. The Speech Contest, facilitated by Syed Raza Abbas and judged by Sumaiya Syed and Syeda Shumaila Rubab Rizvi, and the Essay Writing Contest, judged by Dr. Ramazan Kolachi, offered students platforms to express their views on national defense. A significant seminar on the “Significance of Defence Day Pakistan” was held at the SSC Auditorium Hall.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khushk emphasized the crucial role of Pakistan’s armed forces in safeguarding the nation and lauded the SSC for its role in organizing the event. He commended the dedication of the armed forces and urged students to remain patriotic and vigilant regarding national defense needs.
