KHAIRPUR: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) hosted a one-day seminar at its Students Societies Center to express solidarity with the Pakistan Armed Forces, reinforcing national support for the country’s defenders. The event aimed to cultivate patriotism and unity among students and faculty.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Yousuf Khushk addressed the seminar, describing the Armed Forces as a symbol of courage, discipline, and sacrifice. He highlighted the role of the academic community in standing alongside the military to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty amid regional and global challenges. “Terrorism has no borders, and it is imperative to understand the forces that fuel instability in the region,” he said, underlining universities’ role in promoting critical thinking and dialogue to counter hatred and extremism.
Dr Khushk also paid tribute to martyrs who laid down their lives for the homeland and urged the academic community to renew its commitment to national unity, peace, and progress.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi reflected on the Armed Forces’ historic role in defending Pakistan during the 1965 and 1971 wars, their ongoing fight against terrorism, and efforts to maintain peace along the western borders.
Other speakers, including Naseer Murad Shaikh, former Dean Prof. Dr. Taj Mohammed Lashari, Dr Inayat Bhatti, Sarfraz Korejo, and Dr Ikhlaq Larik, praised the bravery and professionalism of Pakistan’s soldiers. They stressed the importance of national unity, regional stability, and responsible citizenship, encouraging students to contribute positively to national development.
The Coordinator of the Students Societies Center, Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, welcomed guests and outlined the seminar’s objectives, including fostering national cohesion and recognising the sacrifices of the Armed Forces. A student from the International Relations Department, Madhia, spoke on behalf of the students, expressing respect and pledging continued support from Pakistan’s youth.
The seminar was attended by faculty, officers, employees, and students, including Ishart Husain Mirani, Muzamil, Tofique, and Sania Javeed, concluding with a renewed pledge of unity with the Pakistan Armed Forces in safeguarding peace, stability, and progress.
